I’ve also been doing a couple projects that are to-be-released, so I’ll have to hold off on posting those. I’m anxious to finally update some of this new work.

Here’s is an address I painted by hand.

Zine-making….

Zine-making….

I’ve been busy with a couple personal projects and...

I’ve been busy with a couple personal projects and projects set to release in a couple months to explain my absence of posts. I’ll have to post those when I get the green light but going through some old portfolio work, I came across this package design I did around 2010 for my proposed BBQ sauces called Arkansauce.

Looking back, I’ve learned a lot in creating campaigns and mockups but I really loved the process and how these turned out. Die cut labels to show the sauce color in detail and type/artwork drawn by hand. The ended up in GD USA’s student package award section from 2010 as well. It might be time to revisit package design.

Hand painted “Tip” sign for Tattooer Jon at Morning...

Hand painted “Tip” sign for Tattooer Jon at Morning Star Tattoo in Brooklyn, NY.

I painted this logo in Ithaca, NY for the Plumber’s Union...

Their logo...A little dated chrome effect

I painted this logo in Ithaca, NY for the Plumber’s Union Local 257.

Sick People Vol. 2

Ricky Singh, “Moment of Truth Vol. 2”

Fanzines hold a special place in the heart of most punk and hardcore kids. They’re the textbooks of a disenchanted generation, the entire history of a movement written between pages that are cut and pasted together, scanned and photocopied to a point of illegibility and beyond. We grew up with them, dissecting lines from interviews with our favorite bands and reading about stories from the road. There was a feeling to the whole thing then that can never again be replicated. It was like stumbling into a new world that suddenly rendered everything outside of it completely irrelevant, and zines were our windows into it. Life had meaning again, and just in time too.

Over the course of our lives, almost every one of us involved has attempted to do a fanzine at one point or another. The process is long and arduous, and many of us quickly realize that it’s something we’re not quite cut out for. And yet, whether we gave up halfway, or actually went through with it, the idea that every single person is entitled to write, speak and be published is what matters most. That process of physical creation has held out against a world that’s increasingly digital, the number of zines in circulation certainly no less than when I found hardcore more than a decade ago. That being said, it’s not easy to make a zine that stands out. For each zine that I’ve read religiously, there’s been dozens more that I’ve skimmed through and tucked away into a box beneath my bed.

Ricky Singh’s fanzine “Moment of Truth” is one of the few that sticks out from the rest. He and I spent a lot of time sitting next to each other in shitty vans over the past few years, and although we had our quarrels from time to time, I like to think that I got to know him better than most. He likes to sleep, and he likes to party, but he’s also the sort of person that can get good at anything when he really works at it, and that hard work comes through in this latest project. “Moment of Truth Vol. 2″ is a good read from cover to cover. What it lacks in grittiness, it more than makes up for with hi-res photos and and cool spreads. Featuring interviews with Judge, Kill Your Idols, Down to Nothing, Turnstile and more, it feels and looks like an actual magazine.

The zine is 36 pages, printed full color on gloss paper with design work from Doug Aldrich, Make sure to grab a copy from the “Moment of Truth” webstore before they’re all gone.

It all started with a simple sketch of the logo and I spiced it up a bit to look like a neon sign.

After finishing the logo on the outside, I was asked to cover up and redo some existing artwork on the inside walls. I can’t take credit for the subject-matter; only making them look much cleaner and professional. You can see the before and after shot above.

In collaboration with RIPE, we’re excited to announce this photo show and zine release party featuring Julio Pardo currently of Valencia Spain and Reggie McCafferty of Brooklyn New York, each presenting a selection of their photographs from their travels throughout Asia. Both photographers have an incredible transcendental quality to their work, which takes the viewers and instantly inserts them into the moment that the photo was taken, giving them access to a world that would never be described in a travel book. The zine will be limited to 100 copies, available April 26.

To emphasize an outdoor cafe theme, I painted the walls to resemble downtown’s classic brick buildings, a Syracuse skyline featuring the Carrier Dome and water tower, and street/highway signage. At the owner’s request, I also painted the words: peace, love, and imagine on top of the front buildings. This was easily the most fun project to work on and be apart of bringing a unique atmosphere to Syracuse’s downtown restaurants. Full of color and European-inspired desert items, this is a great place to check out if you’re in the Armory Square area of of Syracuse.

Here’s a couple shots from the Crossing Lines show from a...

photo: Joe Hubba

photo: Amanda Carnella

Here’s a couple shots from the Crossing Lines show from a couple weeks ago. I will have a video up in the next couple days covering the collaboration piece seen above with myself and Sam Octigan. Upon wrapping things up for the show, I jumped into some other projects in Syracuse, so I’ve been holding out on posting photos of the show. Check back for more updates and posts now that I’m back on the Brooklyn grind. Thanks to everyone who came out and showed support.

To suggest a sense of community and relationships, I focused on the kids writing their names or another word/image that describes them within the shape of the letters S-U.

Using 2 orange tones, the names began to blend and take shape showing they all blend together and make up that community . The darkest color was finally outlined on top to contain their names although not all of the names fit. I emphasized that shows not everyone has to fit in to still be part of the community. The balance of space and individual names/symbols makes up a city and they learned that art can me a means for communication and a network.

This work will be featured in Oncare’s “Got Art” exhibit showing at The Most on May 15.

This is my latest series “Disillusion” which was...

"Flavor of the Week"

"Vanity"

"Empty Promises"

"Natural Foods"

"Eternal Power"

This is my latest series “Disillusion” which was featured in my most recent show “Crossing Lines” with Australian artist, Sam Octigan.

This was based on the word “disillusion” and its many faces and methods developed in popular culture. The work focuses on the smoke and mirrors used by different industries to sell and manipulate a market, which in turn also influences the cultural norms and viewpoints of an individual.
